We have been alerted to a new phishing attempt in our area.
The victim receives a phone call from a person claiming to "need to scan their computer for spyware and viruses." The suspect then has the victim hold their phone up to their computer and does their "scan." They inform the victim that they are heavily infected and need to purchase software from them to fix the issues and prevent it from happening again. The suspect then tries to garner credit card information from the victim.

PLEASE remember that these are nothing more than attempts to get personal or credit card information!

You should NEVER give this type of information out to ANYONE over the phone or through email!
