Increase Security with a Worldwide
Neighborhood Watch |
If you are like many businesses, you rely on
the web to run your day to day business. While the
web is a great resource for businesses, it also
means you are opening up your business to the
threat of hackers across the world every day. Web
threats are fueled by the opportunity for profit
through identity theft and stolen business assets,
and these threats are growing every day.
There are many steps to ensure your business
is fully protected from web threats. One of
the most simple solutions is by making sure each
computer in your business is protected by up to
date anti-virus. Due to the rapid development of
new web threats, old or expired anti-virus is just
as bad as not having any at all. Make sure
your IT person, or someone at your office, is
responsible for renewing and updating your
anti-virus on a regular basis.
When deciding which anti-virus software to
use at your business, there are many things to
consider. How technical is the installation and
setup of the anti-virus, does it include technical
support, will it slow down your system? There is
not one anti-virus that will always be the
best because new software is constantly being
developed and new viruses, worms, and spyware are
being created each day.

If your business is looking for new
anti-virus, don't automatically renew the same
brand you have always used. They may have been top
of the line when you first purchased it, but there
may be more advanced options available
today.
For our business customers, the techs at
Northwest Communications have found Trend Micro to
be very effective against web threats. Trend Micro
utilizes software that monitors threats
experienced across the world. These attacks are
added to their database which
protects more people from
being effected by the same threat. We
are currently using Trend Micro at our office and
have this software available for businesses
to purchase. If you have questions about Trend
Micro or which anti-virus is best for your
business, please contact sales@ncn.net. |

Does Your Business Need a
Mobile Website? |
|
As consumers become
acustomed to finding any information they want on
their mobile phones, mobile compatible websites
will become essential for many businesses. We are
an impatient society, and we want what we want,
when we want it. No one wants to wait for a
website to load on their computer, and this is
even more true for those using mobile phones.
Do you know what your website looks like from
a mobile device? If not, now is the time to find
out. If your website is not user friendly or loads
slowly from a mobile device, it may be time to
look into developing a mobile website.
What is the difference? While many businesses
have intricate designs, large images, video, or
flash animation on their main websites, mobile
sites are very different in design. Mobile sites
are a simplified design version of a business'
main website. This simplified design allows the
site to load faster on a mobile phone and is more
user friendly on a small screen.

Since the mobile design is just a simplified
version of a website, some businesses may try to
save money by just creating one design that would
work for both. While this is a great idea in
theory, it is very difficult for any designer to
create a design that will look good on both a full
sized computer and a mobile device.
Thinking about a mobile website for your
business? Check out the mobile website (shown
above) for Northwest Communications and
compare the differences to our main website www.ncn.net or
contact our sales team for more
details! |
