Hearing Health
Centers |
|
Northwest Communications is the
primary technology consultant for Hearing Health
Centers at their locations in Spencer,
Cherokee, Fairmont, Le Mars, Sioux Falls, and
Worthington.
In the health
industry, it is more important than ever to keep
your technology up to date and secure from
outsiders. Northwest Communications helps keep
vital information secure by providing managed
anti-virus protection, managed firewalls, and a
backup data recovery system for Hearing Health
Centers.
While security
is a top priority, Northwest also assists Hearing
Health Centers with their day to day technology
needs. We provide PC and server management to
ensure their vital equipment is up and running
when they need it most. Managing these systems
allows us to avoid potential downtime
and make suggestions for improvements in
their overall operation before small
issues become a major problem.
Northwest
Communications is proud to support Hearing Health
Centers in their mission of being 'Your Key to
Better Hearing.' |

HTTP
vs. HTTPS |
Have you ever wondered exactly how you can
shop on a website without sending your personal
information for anyone to see? We all do it, but
what is happening behind the scenes? If you're an
online shopper or thinking about selling on your
own website, here is what you should know.
HTTP stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol.
HTTP is what allows you to view a website through
your browser. The browser understands HTTP and
shows the website according to these instructions.
Most websites you view will use standard
HTTP.
Once you enter an online shopping cart, check
your bank statements, or submit a form that asks
for confidential information, you should have been
switched to a webpage using HTTPS. HTTPS has the
same functions of HTTP, but with an added layer of
security. HTTPS partners with another protocol
called SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer. SSL
takes your incoming and outgoing data and encrypts
it. The two combined allow you to view a visibly
appealing webpage, while transferring your data
securely.

So, how does a website become HTTPS in the
first place? For a website to be secure, the owner
of the website must purchase a trusted certificate
that is unique to that owner. This certificate
will be checked when a user visits a secure
website and your browser will verify the
site is what it claims to be. Once the secure
website passes the browser's test, you are on your
way to a secure transaction! Besides looking for
HTTPS in your address bar, most secure websites
will appear with an image of a closed lock at the
top or bottom of your browser. This is also a good
indication your information is
safe. |
