Q: Does Northwest Communications have access
to my computer?
A: Absolutely not. SecureIT Plus was built with your
security and privacy as first priority. All the updates, scanning,
and protection happen from your computer and nothing is sent to us
outside of the reporting statistics which are made fully available
to you on our reporting website and through our month email summary.
The only time we have access to your machine is when you explicitly
grant it to us during your use of the Remote Installation or Remote
Support request. Even then we require that you put in a one time use
code that allows your computer to connect to our Operation Center
granting us permission to assist you.
Q: Do I still have to have a separate Anti-virus
program?
A: No, the SecureIT Plus service will provide you with everything you
need to safely navigate the internet and effectively and efficiently
use your computer.
Q: Is there anything that I need to do to
keep things updated?
A: No, the value of this service is that it applies all updates and
runs all of its various scans behind the scenes without you having
to worry.
Q: Do I have to leave my computer on all
of the time?
A: No, if you happen to have your computer off at the time the program
runs its various scanning processes and updates, they will automatically
run the next time that you turn your computer on. The one advantage
of leaving the PC on, at least on the days that it DOES run updates,
is that this will assure no updates run and take performance away
from the PC when you are using it.
Q: How do I know that I am being protected?
A: You will receive a monthly email detailing the activities that
have been executed by your SecureIT software. In addition you can
check the Online Reports anytime, which are updated every 24 hours.
Q: What if I have/use a firewall?
A: Since our service never contacts your computer, and the vast majority
of firewalls are designed to block INCOMING traffic, this software
is compatible with 99+% of all firewalls
Q: What happens if I get a virus or some
type of Spyware on my computer?
A: In the very unlikely case that you do get a virus or spyware threat
on your computer that materially affects its performance or damages
it in some way, we will do our best to remove the problem at no cost
AND give you a free month's service as well.
Q: What is a firewall and why do I need one?
A firewall is a system (software or hardware) designed to protect Internet connected PCs from unauthorized access from the outside world. Without a firewall, Internet connected PCs are vulnerable to attacks by hackers and other malicious entities that can result in personal data being compromised and even identity theft.
Q: I already have security software on my PC, do I have to remove it?
All virus and spyware protection software must be removed prior to installation. SecureIT Services technicians are available to assist in this process. Stand alone Firewall programs are able to be left on the machine in most instances.
Q: If I have more than one computer can I install the service on the other machines I own?
A CD can be used to install the product on more than one machine, however each machine requires a unique license key for product registration and installation.
Q: I have questions about or need help with installation. Whom do I contact?
You should call SecureIT Services technical support at 1-877-373-3320.
Q: How long will the installation process take?
Installation times can vary depending on machine resources and internet connection speed. Average installation time is 18 minutes followed by the initial system clean up which can take up to an additional 45 minutes depending on internet connection speed.
Q: I think my machine may already be infected can I move forward with the installation or do I need to have my PC cleaned first?
It is recommended that if you believe your machine is already infected that you take advantage of the Supported Remote Installation. SecureIT Services technicians will be able to clean your machine while they are installing the product.
